Expats have the option to enrol their child at a child-care centre that uses English as a primary language.
Where?
Three Copenhagen child-care centres provide groups in which the everyday language used is English:
Børnebyen Vandværket (Studiestræde 54 in Copenhagen K) offers one day-nursery group for infants and one kindergarten group.
Idrætsbørnehaven Bavnehøj (Bavnehøj Allé 40 in Copenhagen SV) offers one kindergarten group.
Topstykket (Julius Andersen Vej 2A, 2450 Copenhagen SV) offers one kindergarten group
English may be the native language of some children, whereas others will learn it as a second language. The daily activities and pedagogical frameworks of the English-language groups are similar to the Danish child-care offers.
Who can apply?
The groups are intended for children in the age group between 0 and 6 who are children of expats who expect to leave Denmark after a few years. To apply for a place in these groups:
Both parents must be of non-Danish nationality
Their municipality of residence must be Copenhagen
At least ONE of the parents must be employed in Denmark.
How to apply?
You must download and fill in this application form and send it by secure mail (log in with NemID) to Pladsanvisningen (the Placement service).
Documentation of your officially registered address must be attached with interim employment contracts with an end date. EU citizens must further attach a copy of their passport. Non-EU citizens must provide proof of work and residence permits.

Facts
Børnebyen Vandværket is a large child-care offer established in the heart of Copenhagen. It has room for 400 children between the age of 0 and 6 years. Vandværket comprises 6 smaller houses – each with their own playground. On 1 June 2017, two groups in one of the houses were set up as a day-nursery for a group of 12 children and a kindergarten for a group of 22 children, respectively.

Tours of the English department are available on the first Wednesday of each month. You can contact the pedagogical leader, Sisse Trolle Laiq, at silind@kk.dk to make an appointment.
Idrætsinstitutionen Bavnehøj has established an English-language group for the age group between 2 and 6. There is room for 24 children. The English-language group will be close to the other groups of the child-care offer, as it will be housed in renovated rooms.
Opening hours: Monday-Friday, 06:45-17:00
You can visit the institution on certain dates in 2019 (3/6, 13/8, 3/9, 2/10, 5/11 and 3/12). The visiting hours are from 09:30 to 10:30. You can contact the pedagogical leader, Linda Højbjerg, at 37638@buf.kk.dk to make an appointment.
Topstykket is a newly opened institution with two Danish nursery groups and a English language kindergarten group (22 children).
