Keramikfrise med krager

Reistrup har ud over keramikfrisen på Københavns Rådhus også stået bag udsmykningen af Århus Teater samt udsmykning til Glyptoteket. Reistrup var i 1890’erne også tilknyttet keramikfabrikken Kähler. 

Det siges, at man under udgravningen i forbindelse med opførelsen af Københavns Rådhus fandt potteskår i farvet keramik fra middelalderen. Man lod sig inspirere heraf, og har derfor på Rådhuset valgt at dekorere dette sted på Rådhuset i samme materiale.

Ceramic frieze with crows 

The ceramic frieze on the left side of City Hall is by artist Karl Hansen Reistrup (1863-1929).

In addition to the ceramic frieze at Copenhagen City Hall, Reistrup was also responsible for the decoration of Aarhus Theatre and the decoration of the museum The Glyptotek. In the 1890s, Reistrup was also associated with the ceramic colour factory Kähler. 

It is said that during excavations for the construction of Copenhagen City Hall, shards of coloured pottery from the Middle Ages were found. The architect of the City Hall chose to decorate this area of the building in ceramic inspired by the colour on the old ceramic.
