Secondary Librarian at European School Copenhagen (part time temporary position)

European School Copenhagen is seeking a Secondary School Librarian to support the continued development of our Secondary library as a dynamic learning and reading hub for students. The position is between 6-12 hours per week until the end of this academic year, with the aim to support the transition into a new library space and the expansion of the library’s educational role.
Role and Responsibilities
Within the existing hours, the Librarian is responsible for
- processing, registering, and organising new books and resources
- maintaining the tidiness and structure of the library and book depot
- developing engaging displays and thematic features that promote reading
- planning and implementing seasonal and curriculum-linked library themes
- researching and recommending new books to ensure a current and relevant collection
- liaising closely with teachers to align library resources with classroom learning
- actively involving students in the development of the library space to foster ownership and engagement
- ensuring smooth ongoing development of the new library environment
We expect that you
- have a strong commitment to students’ learning, wellbeing, and inclusion, in line with the school’s values
- are organised, proactive, and able to manage both routine tasks and development projects
- enjoy collaborating with teachers and support staff across the school
- can work independently while contributing to a shared vision for the library
- have relevant experience in a school library, educational setting, or similar role
The ideal candidate will have
- experience working with children and young people in an educational context
- strong communication and collaboration skills
- good IT and organisational skills
- an interest in promoting reading culture and student engagement

About the school
European School Copenhagen (ESCPH) is an international school funded by the City of Copenhagen. ESCPH opened in August 2014 and has three language sections, English, French and Danish, from nursery class to secondary 7 (3.G).
ESCPH is an accredited school within the established European School system, following the rigorous educational requirements for European Schools combined with Danish pedagogy and working guidelines.
The mission of the European Schools is to provide a multilingual and multicultural education for nursery, primary and secondary students and thus have a very strong focus on language learning. Students begin to learn their first foreign language in Primary 1 and are later taught several subjects, including History and Geography, in their first foreign language.
Terms of employment
Start date is 1st February, or as soon as possible thereafter. The end date is Tuesday 30th June 2026. Salary and terms of employment according to KLF agreement.
