In general, school begins in the calendar year when your child has his or her sixth birthday. As a main rule, your child belongs to a specific school in the area where you live. However, if there are available places in other schools, you have the right to choose.After school hours, there are a number of caretaking possibilities provided by the City of Copenhagen along with a range of activities for young people. The caretaking and the youth school-activities are typically located at or near the school. If this is not the case, common transport is provided from the school.
