Let's turn Copenhagen into Hopenhagen

Welcome to Copenhagen and welcome to the UN climate summit.

In Copenhagen we see the summit as a brilliant occasion – and a commitment – to involve and engage the entire population of the world in the climate. It’s not just the leaders of State who carry an enormous responsibility to improve the globe’s climate in the future, the responsibility also weighs on the individual person and the individual city.

We must all realize the hope of a greener world. We name this wish Hopenhagen.

Cities play a very special role for the climate, because the majority of the world’s population lives in cities. We are responsible for more than 75 % of the world’s CO2 emissions. In order to focus on the decisive role of the cities, we hold a mayor summit meeting during the climate conference.
100 mayors from the entire world are invited and together we’ll show what we want to do and what we’re doing for the climate. The motto is ‘Cities Act’.

’Cities Act’ is a powerful image which should reach the entire globe so that the little personal act is linked together with the big global act. Hopefully, with an experience of hope for the future – maybe we’ll even be able to rename Copenhagen and call it Hopenhagen?
