Permits from the Traffic Department must always be kept available and shown on request.
Directions from the City of Copenhagen and the police must be followed immediately, and representatives of the authorities must always be given unlimited access to the area.
The area and stationary equipment such as trees, signs and benches must not be damaged. Damages will be repaired at the organizer's expense. The area should be kept clean during the event and left in same condition as before the event. Extra cleaning carried out by the municipality due to lack of cleaning by the organizer will happen at the organizer's expense.
Please note that special unforeseen circumstances may make it necessary to relocate or cancel events.
Permits for events are given with regard to Section 102 of the Act on Public Roads (Act No 671 of 19 August 1999 - Special Board of roads), and subject to the applicable rules and guidelines.
Accidents or injuries during the event are the organizer's responsibility.
Blocking of roads requires a plan, including a map showing the materials and signs used, which must be pre-approved by both the Traffic Department and the police.
Parking is prohibited in parks and squares. Use of heavy vehicles (above 3,500 kg) requires a special permission from the Traffic Department, as some places do not tolerate the heavy vehicles.
Nothing (e.g. lines or posters) must be attached to stationary equipment, trees or paving.
Cables and wiring must be elevated at least 2.5 m above the paving and 4.5 meters above motor traffic for safety reasons.
Bonfires require the prior approval of the Traffic Department. Only dry, clean and untreated wood may be used for the fire. Fires must be extinguished by the end of the event.
Limited exposure of corporate partners and sponsors is allowed. The Traffic Department must consent if exposure involves elements or gimmicks beyond logos and signage.
According to Danish law, promotional materials may not be handed out to passersby, if they are not taking part in the event.
Beverages must be served in disposable (e.g. plastic) cups, and for environmental reasons, organizers must charge a fee for every cup, repayable upon their return.
Music and loud noises are allowed at the following times: Sunday-Thursday until 23.00 - Friday-Saturday until 24.00 You may only amplify sound above 60 dB under special agreement with the Traffic Department. Concert Events may not exceed 5 hours. The organizer must ensure that the noise impact is minimized - particularly near homes and workplaces.
Permits from the Traffic Department may contain exceptions and special circumstances associated with the individual site or a particular event. Organizers should be aware that other requirements may apply to the event, and additional special permits (e.g. from the police or board of health if foods and beverages are sold) may be needed.

Larger events require special attention to the city, neighbours and participants. Specifically, it is important to plan the clearing of the area, the subsequent clean-up, and ensure that assistants are informed about the municipality's rules and guidelines. It is good practice to inform the local community about your event. Make sure it is clear who you are, and provide information about your program in the days before our event.
Damage to the city's vegetation and equipment, or failures to clean public areas may be corrected at the organizer's expense. For very large events, the Traffic Department may charge a deposit of up to 30,000 DKK.
Organizers must supply mobile toilets for the participants, amounting to 1 toilet per 100 participants. Toilets must have closed systems and be environmentally approved.
Construction of scenes or platforms require a building permit from the Building Department. Platforms less than 1 meter in height and stage wagons do not require a permit.
Large tents for more than 150 persons, or other structures which may impede escape in case of an emergency, require an approval from the Copenhagen Fire Department.
Major events must meet the requirements of commercial waste-handling, with a plan of disposal during and after the event, including: - Name of an organizer in charge of waste and cleaning - Name of the waste transporter, which organizers have enlisted - A description of containers for waste collection - A plan for keeping public areas clean during the event Bins for the participants with ensured regular emptying and disposal of waste should also be provided. Keep in mind that it is often necessary to set up large key containers where you can collect the waste from sales-stalls, public bins, etc. The carrier can help you with the choice of method. Commercial waste must be sorted into the following groups: glass, food waste, cardboard, plastics, and organic waste. Make a plan for the disposal of foods in unbroken packaging - i.e. give it to the homeless - see www.stopspildafmad.dk. Waste from the audience should be gathered in the combustible waste container. Brochures and other paper should be collected in separate containers. Please make sure to remove all broken bottles, bottle-caps, and cigarette butts.
