Sustainable Solutions from Copenhagen at C40 Summit

27. maj 2011
With a catalogue of sustainable city solutions, Copenhagen seeks to boost the green collaboration between cities. The aim is not only to share knowledge, Copenhagen wants cities to take a step further and transfer concrete solutions from one city to another.
The Mayor of Copenhagen Frank Jensen is attending the C40 Summit in Sao Paulo – and brings a catalogue of eight sustainable solutions from Copenhagen, all transferable to other cities.

- Many of our challenges are universal, and I believe that a range of the solutions which have helped us in Copenhagen can inspire other cities around the globe.

The catalogue goes beyond products: It identifies green solutions as a combination of technology, knowledge and organization. The analysis contains details of the problems, the solutions and their economic, social and environmental benefits.

- A good example is cycling: More than half of the people living in Copenhagen use the 350 kilometres bike lanes of Copenhagen every day. This is not only a benefit for health and climate, but cycling also combats traffic congestion. We sense a great interest in our biking system, which we now will try to meet, says Mayor Frank Jensen.
