The One Stop Shop Copenhagen is to make it easier for foreigners to come to Copenhagen to work, to do research or to study. - Copenhagen is lacking behind e.g. Stockholm in terms of growth. One reason is Copenhagen’s problem with attracting and maintaining international workers. With the One Stop Shop we wish to make life easier for foreign workers and their employees and thereby make our capital more attractive to visit, says Lord Mayor Frank Jensen.
- When a company hires foreign employees, there are numerous things to learn and to handle before they can begin work and before they can feel that they contribute at the same level as their colleagues. We are therefore very pleased with this solution that speeds up the paper work.
Copenhagen receives between 10,000 and 12.000 new international Copenhageners every year. When a foreigner moves to Denmark to work the process of acquiring a registration certificate, a social security number, tax deduction card, health card etc. is considered to be a barrier in the struggle for recruiting and maintaining international educated workers. Figures from Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies show that Denmark needs to attract at least 100,000 new international citizens to the Danish labor market during the next eight years. Consequently, there is a great need for launching initiatives that make life easier for the foreign workers and their employers.
